how could we top the upper antelope valley slot canyons, i am not sure we can but we continue on our travels. leaving our Bryce national park campground at Ann’ inns i ask about the aspen trees turning fall colors. i’ve head so much about them and on our last trip missed then entirely. Off we go up rt 14 through the Dixie National Forest onto rt 148 towards the Cedar Breaks national monument. we were up there last weekend he said. wow so cool as i head for the car can’t wait to tell mary.
so here we go on our way to north towards Yellowstone National Park, a good two day drive.

and down the mountain we go headed to Parowan utah and I15 with Salt Lake city in our sites. but all this climbing around has gotten us hungry and we pull off I15 at exit 109 in Beaver Utah, allowing our hunger to guide us, where to go and we see what looks like a gas station but low and behold it’s a restaurant Timberline Inn. wow a gastronomic find, mary had a french dip and i had a chicken avocado sandwhich. unbelievably good. we stumbled on to something special. we asked the waitress about the place she told us they make their own breads and everything from scratch.it was started by a chief who trains everyone.
after lunch we continued north towards Salt Lake city looking for a motel on my smart phone i select a cute motel in the city. a good nights sleep then on the road again. looking for an air mattress as ours had died in Bryce Canyon RIP. no such luck in finding a new one we wasted hours driving and calling sporting good stores. oh well.

there were no inns available for us near Yellowstone and it was a long drive anyways so we stayed about 32 miles south of Yellowstone in a small fishing town in Island Park Idaho at the Anglers Inn. another one of our finds the inn is located on Henry’s Fork on Blue Spring Creek a world renowned fly fishing spot.

we ate our first dinner at anglers inn which was cosy and fine but we always like to explore a bit and the next evening found the last chance bar and grill at the Trouthunter Lodge almost next door. the food as excellent so much that we asked to meet the chief and complimented him on the food.
